I feel funny being an apprentice anime "critic". I'm no adept, just I practise enjoy anime and have seen dozens, if not hundreds, over the years. Elfin Lied is i of the ones that goes down as a classic anime in my book and I feel it will definitely terminal in anime history. The moral compass in this series is complex and lets you lot view what's considered "evil" from both sides and question what information technology is and how it's created. There are definitely very cruel scenes and graphic violence shown. This doesn't peculiarly carp me, but if you have young children, it certainly wouldn't injure to watch $.25 of this yourself first so you can judge whether they'd sympathise it or handle it. The opening song is to die for (I really put it on my IPod) and the fine art work accompanying it is clearly an homage to the artist Gustav Klimt who created paintings similar "The Woman in Gold". I really love this anime simply there are two things that bother me slightly. The first is the cartoon mode used for the anime. This is a slightly older mode and not as detailed every bit I'd prefer. I feel information technology could've been done slightly improve. My adult son considers this his favorite anime and doesn't listen the drawing style whatsoever then I estimate it'south a thing of tastes. I find that the story is so compelling that the drawing style doesn't take away too much from enjoying it. The other drawback is strictly when it'south on Amazon Prime number. They have deleted scenes and I cannot stand up censorship in whatsoever way, shape, or form. I don't understand why this is done . I am an adult who would like to decide on my own what I do or do non sentry. The deleted scenes, funnily enough, aren't even violent ; they're of ane girl touching another girls chest, scenes similar like that, and frankly being a silly Japanese anime. Why it's ok to leave in scenes of encarmine decapitations and take out the innocent flirting is a question left only to the strange person who decided to cutting those detail scenes. The anime deserves a 5 star rating and is, overall, one of the all-time animes I've ever seen. I recommend this to any anime fan.

The first thing I demand to say about Elfen Lied (pronounced "Leed") is that it isn't a kids cartoon show. It'due south dramatic, very trigger-happy and contains some sexual content. This is an anime intended for adults, and so don't sit your kids down in forepart of the Tv set expecting The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Hour. Several reviewers take expressed utter daze regarding Elfen Lied and I tin can only believe that they causeless that anime = cartoon. Yous can't be further from the truth, particularly with Elfen Lied. In that location are several mutilations, gallons of blood, multiple eviscerations, countless beheadings and lots and lots of gun-play.
Call back of Sam Peckinpah as a director of animation and you'll be close to the idea.
That being said, Elfen Lied is very proficient for what information technology is. The story is engrossing, the characters - with some notable (and intentional) exceptions - are likeable and the animation is expert.

A very moving story, with characters that take depth and many of us might identify with. The story of a young man and his encounter with a mutant human being and how their human relationship develops. HIs cousin is besides a major grapheme in this story. The master character has a suppressed memory that is hinted at but not revealed until the last two episodes. (I know I am a fleck sparse on the storyline hither, only I don't want to requite as well much away) Overall, information technology is really about how humans treat each other and how different people react differently to the aforementioned situation. It tin can get quite emotional and the last episode should make you lachrymose. There is a lot of gore and generally costless nudity, a couple of those nude scenes are meant to show innocence /naiveté. (I accept no idea why the title and episode are in German language, there are a number of Japanese anime that do that) The opening song, "Lilium" is beautiful, almost haunting chant in Latin, It is one of the best opening songs I accept heard.

Starts a bit tiresome, but with lots of violence, and builds up layers as the episodes progress. I wasn't sure whether some of the character actions were spurred past Japanese culture or just something lost in translation. Mysteries and explanations are revealed through flashbacks and other characters inbound and exiting the narrative (often being chopped in one-half or beheaded). Not for the faint of center.
One of the things I've constitute from adept anime is that things take a while to "become started" merely all the background of initial episodes does lead upwardly to a very satisfying package and conclusion. This is no exception. (I would have given a fifth star for subtitled version with original dialogue. Translations seem to lack something to my ear.)

To summarize what I just watched, it'south a harem where about of the female characters accept a pretty nighttime origin. A love triangle be betwixt the protagonist and ii female characters; they're connected through a series of experiences that they tin't seem to remember and it ends up being revealed towards the end of the season. It touches on feeling excluded/pushed away from anybody and one person trying to sympathize; that'south essentially how all of the relationships are created just from different angles.
The story sorta pans out okay. Y'all accept connections going every which way so information technology can be a bit much to take in, but at that place are some that you can become fastened to. Some well-nigh feel forced while others just go nowhere. I didn't know this was a horror blazon anime, just damn they fabricated it clear in the first episode. If yous're not a fan of gore or nudity then this might not be for y'all, but if you lot don't mind it and you've felt the pain of being excluded or misunderstood you may enjoy this. Just to add on, they are not shy about nudity and there is sexual ideas/actions that are presented.
This appears to exist a one-off meaning there is no 2nd flavour in terms of a evidence, but at that place is a magna and I've read they totally derailed the story going frontwards so take this for what information technology is and savour what information technology has to offer. I don't think I've come up across an anime similar this and it is unique in it of itself.

A wide range of emotions are portrayed in this anime. Great plot, I loved the scenes that enable that "Ohhh" feeling you get when you finally understand why something is the way it is. I'm not gonna lie, the whole thing's a blood bath with a off-white corporeality of nudity. It's not like a harem anime with big jiggly breasts billowy considering the wind blew, or the gravitational pull of the moon was just right SOMEWHERE on the planet. By comparison, the nudity here is tasteful. Also, I'm pretty desensitized to cursing, just I'm pretty certain I heard at least one F-bomb.
NOT FOR KIDS! Not even the ones in the crawlspace that you only let out for Halloween!
